After graduating with a B.S. in Biology from Tulane University, Dr. J. Hunter Phillips furthered his studies at Tulane University School of Medicine, earning his M.D. in 1982 and receiving The Order of the Gold Tipped Stethoscope Award for Outstanding Performance in Clinical Medicine. He went on to complete a one-year internship in internal medicine and a three-year residency in dermatology at Tulane University Affiliated Hospitals in New Orleans. He shares his knowledge of dermatology with medical students as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tulane University School of Medicine and as a Visiting Professor of Dermatology for Charity Hospital of New Orleans.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Phillips is currently a staff physician for many hospitals in both Louisiana and Mississippi, including Anderson Hospital (Meridian), Rush Hospital (Meridian), Tulane University Medical Center (New Orleans), Garden Park Hospital (Gulfport) and Hancock Medical Center (Bay St. Louis). He is certified by the State Board of Medical Examiners in Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida and is also certified in laser surgery.

Dr. Phillips has conducted much clinical research on anti-fungal medications and psoriasis and has presented his scientific findings over many years as a dermatologist. He has also been the recipient of a number of professional awards, including the Continuing Medical Education Award from the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award.

Dr. Phillips is married with three children.
